Crispy, air fryer chickpeas make the perfect salty snack! Eat them on their own or toss them in a salad for some added crunch. Chickpeas are a nutritious source of plant-based protein that are rich fiber. This nutritious recipe can be made with just chickpeas, oil, and spices. All you need is an air fryer and they can be made in less than 20 minutes!

What You’ll Need:
Chickpeas: You can’t make crispy chickpeas without chickpeas! You can use canned or dried chickpeas. If you use dry chickpeas, be sure to thoroughly rinse them off. If you use dried chickpeas, make sure to boil them so they are ready to eat.
Avocado Oil: I use avocado oil for high temperature cooking and air frying. I specifically use Chosen Foods avocado oil because based on a study that came out in June 2020, Chosen Foods was found to be one of the few brands of avocado oil that was pure avocado oil and not rancid1.
Spices: You will need a variety of spices to season the chickpeas. I like using salt, pepper, cayenne pepper spice, chipotle spice, and paprika.
How to Make Crispy Chickpeas:
- Rinse and thoroughly strain the can of chickpeas.
- Place the rinsed chickpeas in a large bowl.
- Add 1-2 tbsp of avocado oil, salt, pepper, chipotle spice, paprika spice, and cayenne spice to taste. Mix until the chickpeas are evenly coated.
- Place the chickpeas in the air fryer and air fry at 390 degrees for 15 minutes.
- Remove from the air fryer and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
