Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake or a Smoothie Bowl? You will be shocked to see the simple, real food ingredients in this smoothie that tastes like an indulgent treat!

This smoothie is made with primarily fruit and vegetable and, of course, peanut butter.

Ingredients:

Fruit

The fruit in this recipe is just 1/2 frozen banana. I highly recommend freezing the banana as it gives the smoothie a creamy, ice cream like texture. A raw banana will not have the same effect. I like peeling the banana, halving it, and then storing the halved bananas in a Stasher Bag in the freezer.

Vegetable

Adding cauliflower to your smoothies? Sounds weird right? I was also skeptical at first, but it’s my favorite smoothie add! It adds bulk to the smoothie and a creamy texture, but adds no additional flavor!

Peanut Butter

This recipe of course contains peanut butter. However, not all peanut butter is created the same! Choose an all natural peanut butter made without added sugars or oils.

Other:

This recipe contains 1 cup of unsweetened, unflavored almond milk. If you add 1 cup, the smoothie will have the consistency of a smoothie bowl, which you eat with a spoon. Add additional almond milk to make a thinner smoothie that you can drink with a straw.
The smoothie gets its chocolatey flavor from the cacao powder! If you want, you can substitute 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder instead for added protein.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 3/4 cup frozen riced cauliflower
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder (can substitute 1 scoop chocolate protein powder)

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender (such as a Vitamix) and blend until smooth!
